Tony Kulik

Tony Kulik has made his living as a wood engraver since the early 1990s. During that time he has engraved more than two hundred blocks, completed over fifty commissions, participated in numerous group and one person exhibits and sold more than ten thousand prints.
Tony is self taught as an engraver. He did attend art school for a brief period in the late 60's, but feels that it has had little effect on his work. He began doing wood engravings quite accidentally when, through an etcher friend, he found himself in proximity to a press and a few engraving tools. He made some blocks, cut some prints, fell in love with the process, quit his job and has been engraving ever since.
Tony's inspirations come primarily from nature and the world around him, and he works on anything that catches his fancy at the moment. He lives in Belfast, Maine in a house overlooking the harbor that he built with his wife.
